Before I Hit the Stage
Backstage Rock 'n' Roll Moments in New York City

This book is a collaboration between two lovers of rock music, who have both toured continents Access All Areas with rock’n’roll bands. They understand the ‘code of the road’ and are used to being around rock stars and rolling with the punches backstage:

Author - Paul MilesPaul Miles had his previous book Sex Tips From Rock Stars released globally by the world’s biggest publisher of music books (Omnibus Press, 2010), which has also been released as a German hardcover edition (Schwarzkopf & Schwarzkopf, 2011) and as a Portuguese edition (Best Seller / Record, 2012). The book documented the world’s first extensive study of rock stars concerning sex, in which international rock stars who’ve won Grammy Awards, topped the Billboard charts, and been certified Multi-Platinum, candidly confessed their sexual instincts, urges and experiences. Prior to that, Miles was foremost known as the world’s #1 historian of one of rock’s most reckless and biggest-selling bands of all time – Mötley Crüe – having continuously documented the facts behind their “sex, drugs & rock’n’roll” lifestyle since 1995, even contributing to their best-selling autobiography The Dirt. After writing the liner notes inside Mötley Crüe’s first-ever live album – Live: Entertainment or Death, he later toured all-access with them across Australia (2005) & Japan (2008), experiencing life on the road and backstage first-hand. These days, Miles is also an Australia-based freelance rock music photographer, specializing in live performance.

Jason Obrotka has shot fashion models from the world’s top modelling agencies for editorials, advertising and other works published in
Playboy, Inked, Sports Illustrated, Seventeen, Fantasticsmag, See.7, C-Heads Magazine, Iconique, Zink, Women’s Wear DailyFrank 151 and many other publications. Obrotka is also an experienced photographer of rock musicians, with a highlight of his career to date being the official tour photographer for Guns N’ Roses when they were playing arenas across North America and stadiums in South America as part of their Chinese Democracy World Tour, along with other select shows, where he shot the action on stage and behind it all. This combination of fashion and rock photography experience means Obrotka is skillful at creating visually stimulating and artistic photographs that beautifully capture musicians and their rock’n’roll lifestyle in cool and unique ways.
